Rapper Luda’s “Obama Is Here” Is An Embarrassment

Rapper Ludacris embarrasses the Obama campaign with his “Obama Is Here” rap. Below is a You Tube video featuring the rap. I also added the lyrics so you can read along.

It’s obvious that this is not what the Obama camp wants.  The campaign has released the following statement:

“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”  I’d like to her Obama himself come out against this rap as opposed to his campaign staff.

Ludacris played a major role in the VOTE OR DIE campaign in 2004. The interesting thing is that Luda didn’t even vote in 2004.While I believe he is an Obama supporter, it’s clear that the intent behind this was to get him into the news as his newest album is due to release this fall.

This ode to Obama is nothing more than a sexist, age discriminating, racist rap. Obama met with Luda in 2006 at a YouthAIDS ”Kick Me” campaign to raise HIV/AIDS awareness. Luda said they talked about “empowering the youth.”  Is this the kind of guy we want “empowering” our youth? Obama has said previously that Ludacris is in heavy rotation on his ipod. While this is not the same as the radical associations that Obama has become known for, Obama may reconsider affiliating with idiots like Ludacris.
