Obama’s DNC Speech Lacked Wow-Factor
I posted a lot of the DNC speeches last week with little or no comment as to what I thought about the speeches or the convention in general. My intent was to let the speeches stand alone so that readers could come to their own conclusion about the Democratic Elite. Anyone in their right mind (no pun intended) is able to determine that most of these Liberals are dangerous for America.
The convention ended with the much anticiapted speech by Obama. Although I am not an Obama supporter (go figure) I was actually looking forward to the speech. I’m a history fan and I never pass up a chance to see history made. It’s great that for the first time America has an African-American on a major party ticket. We once again prove how great a country we live in. Who would have thought that we would see an African-American nominated 45 years to the date of Martin Luther King’s historic “I have a dream” speech?
Given all of the historic implications I may have allowed the importance of all this to hype my expectations of Obama’s speech. I was awaiting to be mesmerized as he usually is very good at making speeches. At the close of the speech as fireworks were shooting from all over I was surprised at how unmoved and just plain bored I felt. The speech was nothing special. He only mentioned MLK one time. There was no passion, no wow-factor. It seemed more like a stump speech.
At one point in my life I attended a Bible College and studied to be a preacher. One thing I learned was, if someone is giving up their time to listen to you then make sure you have something to say. Obama had 84,000 people in a stadium and millions by way of television and he had nothing to say.
