Obama Waffles; No Really Obama Waffles

I can appreciate a stab at humor every now and then, is this offensive?

Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss created Obama Waffles, a waffle mix not only showing Obama on the front smiling at a plate of waffles, but also has Obama on its top flap sporting what appears to be a white turban next to the words: “Point box toward Mecca for tastier waffles.” (Okay, that part is funny)

The two writers from Franklin, Tenn. insist they meant no harm, saying their drawings were merely political satire. They sold Obama Waffles for $10 a box at the Values Voter Summit, but were later booted from the forum after protesters found the waffle box offensive.

On the back of the box, Obama is shown wearing a sombrero and Mexican clothing above a recipe for Open-Border Fiesta Waffles that says it can serve “4 or more illegal aliens.” Included with the recipe are the words: “While waiting for these zesty treats to invade your home, why not learn a foreign language?” (Okay again, that’s funny also)

Rev. Wright, Michelle Obama and John Kerry also have a cameo on the box.

Although there are some humorous elements to the Obama waffles, stereotypes abound in the idea. The guys over at Obama Waffles have a website Obama Waffles.com and a blog as well. In fact we are adding them to our Top Blogs List.
