Will PUMAs Help McCain?

There’s a new name for the disenchanted Democrats who were in favor of a Hillary Clinton nomination. PUMA; Party Unity My A$$. The PUMAs have not heeded the call from Hillary to pledge their support for the Change Champion Obama. They instead seek to let the Michigan and Florida votes be counted. The DNC imposed sanctions on the two states for violating party rules. The two states held primary contests before February 5 ignoring the DNC’s warning that only Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina would be allowed to hold primaries before Super Tuesday.

The PUMAs believe that there is still a chance to get Hillary back in the race. There are about 2.5 million PUMA members online who frequent the over 250 PUMA related websites. PUMA organizers are planning to demonstrate at the site of the 2008 DNC in Denver. It’s unclear just how many PUMAs will show up, but you can expect the media to ignore any and all protests against Obama.

Will PUMAs help McCain? It’s likely. Many have already said that they will vote for McCain if they remain forced to choose between McCain and Obama. Many more say they will not vote at all. A no vote for Obama is the same as a vote for McCain.
