Barack Obama Elected President; What Will This Conservative Do?

// November 5th, 2008 // 3 Comments » // POLITICAL ARENA

If you have visited this site at all it is obvious to you that I was not for Obama. In truth, as a conservative I didn’t even prefer McCain. Once it became clear to me that Obama was far and away liberal I decided that my vote needed to go to McCain as he would keep the country at least in the middle. Not to mention the next president will be selecting several supreme court justices in the next few years.

Now that Obama has won the election some may wonder how a conservative like myself will go about these next four years?

Let me begin by saying that it is a great day for America. Many struggles have been fought for civil rights and no one can deny that the election of the first African-American to the presidency is a historic moment. Though I rejoice with the country in that moral victory, I must admit a feeling of unease. I still do not stand in agreement with president-elect Obama on many issues. I will not take the time to go through the issues as they are well documented throughout this website. Time will tell what direction Barack Obama wants to take this Country. The unease comes from the belief that it will be to the left.

As I enter these next four years with Barack Obama as my president I will not vilify him as his party vilified Bush. That’s not to say that I won’t sound off when and if I disagree with a policy of his. I will respect the office that he holds even if he did not earn my vote. I will pray for him and ask God to guide him and give him wisdom as he leads the greatest country on Earth.

Life goes on. I’ll get up in the morning, go to work and then come home to my loving family. I will continue to trust God and follow his leading in my life. I will continue to uphold conservative values and urge other conservatives to continue on.There will be some big issues for us next year, the fairness doctrine, abortion, and health care to name a few. Don’t lose heart.

MonkeyCrash will take a much needed break for the remainder of the week. Mrs. MonkeyCrash would like her husband back. If you are a frequent visitor please check back here Monday Novermber 10th as we get back in the swing of things. In the meantime, does anyone need some McCain yard signs?

Who Won The First Debate; Obama or McCain?

// September 27th, 2008 // 3 Comments » // POLITICAL ARENA

Due to the economic happenings of the day, the first debate was separated into two parts. The first part was the economy. I thought both candidates did well with this issue. Obviously Obama supporters will say Obama won the debate on the economy and McCain supporters will say otherwise. McCain is right, we need to stop government spending and lower taxes. We need less government, not more. Obama has a socialist plan for the economy and can’t be trusted with it.

The second part of the debate was on foreign policy. Even Obama supporters would have to acknowledge that McCain has Obama beat on foreign policy and national security. McCain slammed Obama several times on his inexperience when it comes to these issues.

I’m amazed that Obama will still not admit that he was wrong about the surge. We need a president who is not too proud to admit when he is wrong.

The highlight of the debate was when McCain somewhat mocked Obama’s wishes to talk with Ahmadinejad.

MCCAIN: “So let me get this right. We sit down with Ahmadinejad, and he says, “We’re going to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth,” and we say, “No, you’re not”? Oh, please.”

CNN and MSNBC polls will have Obama as the winner of the debate, but those who knew what to look for know that McCain won.

Republicans For Obama?

// August 13th, 2008 // 4 Comments » // POLITICAL ARENA

A grassroots organization called Republicans For Obama is starting to get some press. I found them through my daily perusing of Google Trends. I threw up in my mouth a little bit when I followed the link to their site.

The “team” over at R.F.O. say that they have campaigned, worked for, and voted Republican all of their lives, but now feel that our Country needs a new kind of leader. Their answer is the inexperienced Obama.

Why do they want Obama?

From republicansforobama.org

“When deciding which candidate is best to now lead our nation, we ask that you consider supporting Senator Barack Obama. The U.S. faces serious challenges that are not being addressed by our political leaders. Elected officials of both sides have found it easier to appease their parties’ fringes to win elections, and media companies choose to shock, amuse and divide us. In the meantime, the problems we face as a nation grow as they are passed on to future generations.

We need a leader who can lay the foundations of another American Century—someone who can get past our partisan and ideological divisions, as we strengthen our standing in the world and tackle the challenges we face at home. We need a leader who understands our differences, but who also knows the importance of finding common ground. While we continue to debate and address many issues on which we all have strong opinions—abortion, gay rights, the relationship between church and state, to name a few—we need a leader who can command the support needed to break our government’s paralysis and meet the growing challenges we face as a nation.
Senator Obama is the one candidate who can unite the American majority that wants to move forward and improve the long-term economic well-being and independence of our nation.”

Are you sick to your stomach yet? Let’s examine these statements further.

“Elected officials of both sides have found it easier to appease their parties’ fringes to win elections” – Obama has been the one appeasing his party. He has repeatedly gone from far left positions to the center and then when his party gets upset he moves back to the left.

“Media companies choose to shock, amuse and divide us.” – More accuratly media compianes choose to fawn over Obama and ignore McCain.

“Strengthen our standing in the world” - Why is it that you people long for the worlds approval? We have saved half of the world one time or another. I’m pretty sure we are in good standing with the countries we need to be in good standing with.

“We need a leader who understands our differences, but who also knows the importance of finding common ground” – This is the most overused line in politics, especially when it comes to Obama. It’s dribble.

“Senator Obama is the one candidate who can unite the American majority that wants to move forward and improve the long-term economic well-being and independence of our nation.” - Obama can’t even unite his own party. The true Republicans and Conservatives in America will not follow a socialist like Obama. In addition, Obama has 143 days of experience, how will that help him in improving our long-term economic well-being? Independence of our nation? He wants us to all be “citizens of the world.” He will weaken our independence as he caters to his socialist friends abroad.

Come on “Republicans For Obama”. You’re not really Republicans. No true Republican in their right mind would vote for Obama. Republicans used to be the Conservative party, if the R.F.O. supporters are Republican it’s clear that warped views like theirs that have moved Republicans away from their Conservative past.

A vote for Obama is a vote for socialism; Bottom line.
