Hillary Supporters Warning Of Another Boston Tea Party

// August 12th, 2008 // 2 Comments » // POLITICAL ARENA

A group of Hillary supporters calling themselves The Denver Group have been making noise of late. Upset with Clinton’s name not being on the ballot at the upcoming DNC, The Denver Group was formed back in June in order to call for an open convention and for Clinton’s name to be on the ballot.

From thedenvergroup.org

“Her name must be put in nomination and there must be a roll call vote allowing the delegates Senator Clinton has earned and who represent more than 18 million Democratic voters, to cast their votes. The representation of those 18 million Democratic voters is the only acceptable means for conducting the convention regardless of outcome, and the only acceptable means that is in accordance with the democratic process.”

The group has raised over $22,000 using the online Democratic fundraising site Act Blue and has been featured on Act Blue’s Hot List. Very impressive for a grassroots group starting just two months ago. All the funds raised are used to aid in their goal of using mass media to get their message out.

This Monday The Denver Group released it’s newest ad in the popular Capital Hill paper, Roll Call. The ad warns of another Boston Tea Party if Clinton is left off of the ballot.

From The Ad

“Senator Obama, Howard Dean and some in the DNC would prefer if Senator Clinton’s name were not placed in nomination. Democratic principles and processes demand otherwise.

Neither candidate has enough pledged delegates to secure the nomination. Senator Obama’s recent agreement that the original Florida and Michigan results should stand reduces his pledged delegates to only 49. Super delegate declarations coerced in June count for absolutely nothing. Only votes cast at the convention count.

Howard Dean does not choose the nominee. Nancy Pelosi does not choose the nominee. Only delegates of the Democratic Party choose the nominee.

Senator Clinton’s name must be placed in for nomination. Her supporters must be allowed to make speeches on behalf of her candidacy. There must be a true and honest roll call vote with each candidate given an equal chance to win the nomination.

If Democratic processes and principles are not respected, If attempts are made to turn the convention into a coronation instead of choosing a nominee according to Democratic rules and principles, then the party will have a much bigger problem- a genuine revolt of more than 18 million voters. And then, come November, there will be a lot more than tea going over the side.”

The Denver Group

Although I am not a Clinton supporter these groups are of great interest to me. How do the Democrats expect to win the White House if they can’t even bring unity to their own party. The messiah Obama promises unity, but the PUMA’s of the party don’t buy his message.

A comment left by Michael Eden of Start Thinking Right, on the PUMA post from American Sentinel sums it up.

“I wasn’t a Bill Clinton fan, but there is no question that he attempted to “triangulate” and find a middle ground. I think that these PUMAs were hoping that Hillary would bring that strategy back in a rejection against the left-wing of the DNC.

When we look at the Democratic Party today, we see Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. There is plenty to reject in these left-wing loons.

Obama is currently trying to sound moderate, but this guy is even more left than his “most liberal Senator” label would tell you. He is WAAAAAYYY left in his history with the Chicago establishment.

I agree with the PUMAs that Hillary would have been a much tougher opponent for McCain than will be Obama (for the reasons above).”
