Katie Couric Interview with Sarah Palin

By Bryan • on September 26, 2008

We have decided not to post the Katie Couric interview with Sarah Palin. We are sickened by the obvious liberal agenda that the media (Couric included) continues to force on the American people. They refuse to examine and grill Obama in the same fashion that they do with McCain and Palin. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC are nothing more than propaganda machines for the liberals. Journalism is dead in 2008. Long live the “New Media.”

UPDATE: 9/26/08 - This is a response to some of the comments and email’s that I have received as a result of deciding not to post the Couric-Palin interview. I’ve been accused of censorship and contributing to the dead journalism of today. The choice in not posting the interview in a sense is a statement. Why is it that I am criticised for not posting the interview when the media itself not only ignores all of the incriminating Obama-Biden news, but also twists the news to fit thier agenda? My decision in no way hinders others of coming to a conclusion about the interview as they can view it at CBS News as well as thousands of other sites on the Internet. Most of the time I post the interviews with no opinion at all, but rather just post the transcript as is. The tag line for MonkeyCrash is: Your Source For Conservative Opinion. I am open as to what the intent of this blog is. It’s a place for Conservative Opinion. The media was once a non-biased news source and has become an agent of the democratic party and liberals. They need to be honest with Americans and let it be known that their intent is to present the news as to gain liberal converts and promote their agenda. As the owner and main author of this blog, I decide according to my opinion what is news worthy or not. Couric is a tired media hack and is not worth the time.

I agree that Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson have been grilling Sarah Palin. In fact, it’s obvious that they enjoy watching her squirm when they ask questions to which they know she will have difficulty forming a coherent response. They also do not try to hide their smugness or air of superiority. It is almost like watching a quiz show where the host is trying to stump the contestant.

Its also true that we have not seen this sort of give and take between interviewers and Obama or Biden. I would argue though that Bill O’Reilly asked Obama some tough questions and pressed him to drop the talking points and respond. I am no huge fan of Senator Obama, but I felt that he held his own and no matter what the answer, expressed it in a coherent and articulate fashion.

All that being said, I don’t have a problem with Couric or Gibson grilling Palin with tough questions and questions to which she should have an opinion that can be backed up with decent reason or evidence.

My problem with Palin is that these are not extremely difficult questions. Couric did not ask her to explain how a credit default swap works or to explain why Russia invaded Georgia on behalf of the separatist movements. She must have formed an opinion on most of these issues — at least abstractly — as governor or mayor. Her responses are all over the map. She falls back on talking points almost immediately and many times combines talking points that are tenuously related to the question.

Its possible that nerves are getting the better of her, but I’m extremely worried about this woman and her ability to be “second in command.”

We can throw experience out the window and I am still worried about her. At this point in her career she must be able to respond articulately and intelligently about issues like terrorism and the economy. It isn’t as if these issues jumped onto the national scene from out of nowhere and it isn’t as if she did not have to think about these issues as governor of Alaska.

I’m troubled by her lack of understanding of these issues or in the very least, her failure in articulating her ideas on these issues. If it isn’t an extreme case of nerves, it is either her lack of ability or a terrible job on the part of her advisors. If the latter, then they should be fired, but I still question a candidate who would go into an interview armed with these responses and feel comfortable. If the former, then John McCain made a terrible decision and his campaign for the White House should suffer the consequences.

Yes, journalism is dead. You prove it by not posting information so that we can become more informed and make our own conclusions.

Instead you state the obviouis, you have an opinion and others that are looking to become more informed and form their own need not apply.

Get a life.

A.) Belabor: argue or elaborate (a subject) in excessive detail: belabor the obvious. B.) Point: an argument or idea put forward by a person in discussion: he made the point that economic regulation involves controls on pricing. Was Katie Couric making a point, or was she asking a question? Beyond the two pertinent and most recent examples of John McCain’s record as provided by Sarah Palin, was Katie eliciting information in excessive detail, belaboring the obvious, or just murdering the King’s English. Fact is, Ms. Couric really did want excessive detail, and Ms. Palin promised a list. So, what was the correct answer? Oh, you’re right Katie, John is an obvious fake, and I’m totally clueless. Sorry for not coming-out with that sooner. But it’s almost moose hunting season; come-on up to the cabin, I’ve got two wonderful new moose hats for you and Charlie Gibson: http://theseedsof9-11.com

I would not hail your decision NOT to post the interview with Katie Couric as an example of journalism at its best either. Regardless of whether you perceive the rest of the media to have a liberal bias or not, by allowing your own personal judgment to cloud your role as a “journalist” how are you fulfilling your responsibilities to report news. Maybe then you should make it clear that you will only report news that you agree with.

Your reason not to post on the Couric Palin interview is insufficient and makes no sense. There is no logical sense and link. “The news networks are nice to Obama. The news networks are meanies to Palin and McCain. Therefore, I will not post the Couric Palin interview.” What are you, in grade school? Move on from such immaturity and focus on the issues and content.

Such action, or inaction rather, to not post on Palin’s stuff is alike to the McCain campaign restricting journalists’ access to Palin in New York. You talk about journalism being dead? Yes, journalism is dead when presidential and vice presidential candidates restrict access to the press and refuse to talk when it’s only a little more than a month before election day. That’s New Media.

Asking someone questions is not grilling them. That she can’t answer them with a coherent response is about her lack of knowledge. She’s an embarassment to the Republican party.

Palin can’t even name any news source she claimed she read and watched. Instead she blah blah tons of gibberish. Why can’t she just say USA today or FIX news or whatever, and save us from those nonsense answer? Is asking what you often read too mean to ask?

Katie Couric used to be a supporter of womens’ rights and workplace equality for women. She has circumvented the female populace and has become a demented , idiotic, rogue. The questions spewed by Katie during the Palin interview were to say the least conspired madness! If “Sloppy” Joe Biden were asked the same questions; the interview would have ended with “Sloppy “Joe being removed from the interview in a straight jacket after receiving an injection of 1200 mg. of Thorazine to alleviate the repetitive convulsions generated by his inability to comprehend nouns from verbs.
